Venue info: In the late ’60s, The Gladsaxe Teen Club was THE place where young people met, to groove to the sounds of rock and popular music groups. Located in a school in the suburbs of Copenhagen, members of the student committee arranged concerts with local names and the occasional english act. On september 7, 1968, it was here Led Zeppelin – then billed as The New Yardbirds – played their first ever live gig.
Other notable bands to have played the venue includes Deep Purple, Small Faces, Ten Years After and John Mayall.
The Teen Club finally called it quits in 1969, but the school still stands today – honored with a Led Zeppelin plaque.
Blog story: When a suburban school outside Copenhagen became ground zero for Led Zeppelin.
